I mean, it's not like we would've paid Landry and BAM our offseason was over. Just because we fucked up with DVP doesn't mean Landry gets to benefit from it. If Landry has been asking Green/DT/Julio/Antonio money then lol bye nice to meet you. But the fact of the matter is that Landry and the DOlphins have been discussing this since last offseason, and couldn't come to an agreement. I agree with the contracts to Branch and Thomas (not so much Alonso as this would be 20/20). He is a fast runner who breaks tackles, blocks, and makes catches. And any good QB (as we supposedly expect Tannehill to be) will not see that much of a dropoff in production from trading away a WR with sort of a limited production.Īnd the comparison with Bell is basically non-existent because Bell is an actual diverse weapon. DVP has shown a lot of talent when he is actually in the damn field. Landry was one of the most reliable pieces in our team, but he wasn't the only one. Under this logic, we'd be setting ourselves for disaster.

I mean, at this point then I'm not sure how to argue it with you. You give that money to the Antonios, the Julios or the Keenan Allens of the league. Not Welker, not 2015 Fitzgerald, not Edelman is worth this amount of money. I really like Landry, but 16M for a slot receiver is dumb as fuck. Let's not pretend he is some sort of angel here either. He does not deserve to be paid like the 2nd best WR in the league, when he is very, very, VERY far away from that.Īnd no drama? Getting ejected isn't drama? Getting ridiculous penalty flags and stalling drives single-handedly isn't drama? Landry could be VERY cancerous on the field at times. Landry has been one of our best offensive players in a while, yet he still does not deserve that ridiculous amount of money. And yes, this is coming from a Tannenbaum hater. I draw the line where the Dolphins are right now, to be hoenst. So where do you draw the line until it IS ridiculous for us to pay him? 20M? 30M? Until what amount is this rant non-existent and you can go "ok, that shit is ridiculous".

And then Drake who looked good in limited playing time this year, and no RB2 - (assuming Williams is gone) hardly even a RB1 since Drake is still an unknown factor for the most part. You can count Parker as a known quantity too now that I think about it, a known quantity of disappointment.

We still have no TE, now only one known quantity in our WR corps (Stills). It's more of the principal of the matter that we should have never been in this position to begin with that angers me.Īlso, you gotta think since our offense is 100% Landry right now, how different it's going to look this year.

It's not like Landry's 1000 yards and 5ish TD's will immediately disappear - whoever we sign or draft as his replacement will do fine. But I don't think it'll be as drastic of a change as people are thinking. Obviously losing Landry would hurt, a lot. A good QB or rather a good offense can put your players in the right positions and make the most out of your lesser players. I will speak devils advocate to my own rant and say that for good teams WR's are typically not something you overly invest in.
